Coup de Coeur

Of Mice and Men may be almost a 70 year old book but it’s a classic. Set in the 1930’s, it is the story of two friends, the smart and sharp George and the simple minded, naive Lennie. Together they struggle through job after job to hopefully one day save up enough money to make their dream come true: have a piece of land they can call their own. I’m sure many of you have had to read this for school or will have to. Often when you have to read a book for school you are convinced you won’t like it or that it’s boring. I sometimes agree but this book proved me wrong. It is just such a beautiful story about friendship between two amazing men that you forget it was written before our parents were even born. The naïve big child that is Lennie is bound to move you, maybe even to tears. I won’t say more, you should discover these characters for yourself, they’re worth it. This is a must read classic, and a very good way to make a good first impression on your English teacher.
